We're seeing a remarkable rise in the number of businesses asking us about solar power.

How Businesses Can Benefit From Solar Power

Solar Panels for Warehouses

By the very nature of warehousing, solar panels make a perfect fit. Often with large roof space and in positions to make the most of unhindered sunlight, warehouses have the potential to make dramatic savings on electricity costs, especially when coupled with other energy saving measures such as LED lighting and efficient management of HVAC.

The Key Benefits of Solar Power For Business

Volatility in the energy market is set to continue for the foreseeable future. A recent survey by UKWA (The United Kingdom Warehousing Association) states that...

Solar PV can reduce annual electricity costs by 40-80% and protect businesses against future electricity price rises

Meeting energy performance regulations is just part of the story. A cleaner, greener environment with reduction in CO2 sits comfortably with the savings achieved by installing solar panels.

The UKWA report also states...

Rooftop solar PV provides, lower and secure electricity costs, reduced environmental impact, no additional land use and increased asset value and efficiency.

It's thought that businesses could actually become net producers of electricity with the right level of investment.

Solar Panel Farms and Agriculture

Solar Energy UK is a trade organisation representing installers and manufacturers, with a mandate to build a clean energy system for everyone's benefit. In their recent fact sheet (Solar farms and Agricultural Land) they make a statement regarding the use of farm land to produce electricity - it's quite striking...

Currently solar farms occupy less than 0.1% of the UK’s land. To meet the government’s net zero target, the Climate Change Committee estimates that we will need 90GW of solar by 2050 (70GW by 2035), which would mean solar farms would at most account for approximately 0.6% of UK land – less than the amount currently occupied by golf courses.

That really is incredible and goes some way to allay fears that valuable farm land could be taken out of use. Many farms have large areas where soil quality or position does not make for good crop farming.

We've worked on many farms to install solar panel arrays and very much like warehouses, they tend to have large roof areas that are not in shadow and are perfectly placed for generating solar power.
